Caring for your cutlery

Your cutlery will be used daily, so it is very important you take good care for your cutlery. By its very nature, stainless steel is the ideal material for cutlery: durable and rust resistant with a lasting shine. To keep your cutlery gleaming, we recommend following these simple care instructions.

Care & use
Handwashing
Handwashing is the kindest way to treat your cutlery. Avoid scouring pads, bleach detergents and use of soda. Cleanse your cutlery as soon as possible, or hand wash it promptly after use. Prolonged exposure to food – salts and food acids – can damage your cutlery. Don’t leave your cutlery soaking. After washing, dry the cutlery with a soft cloth.

Dishwashing
All 18/0 and 18-10 stainless steel cutlery is dishwasher safe, unless stated otherwise. To keep your cutlery in optimum condition, we recommend following the below care instructions.

  • Rinse your cutlery before putting it in the dishwasher in order to remove any food, as well as any salt or acid that may be contained in particular foods.
  • Avoid contact with salt, vinegar, bleach and aggressive cleaning products, as they can corrode the cutlery.
  • Place the knives separate from the spoons and forks in the cutlery basket, to avoid contact corrosion. Knives are made form a different type of steel (13/0 stainless steel) than spoons and forks (18-10 or 18/0 stainless steel). Contact of these types of steel may cause contact corrosion.
  • Open the door of the dishwasher after the rinse cycle is done, to avoid condensation on the cutlery.
  • It’s best to remove your cutlery promptly at the end of the cycle, and dry it with a soft cloth, rather than leaving it in a damp environment overnight.
